About the Society

The Leominster Historical Society is a private, nonprofit organization consisting of dedicated volunteers who assist the public in learning about Leominster’s past, and a dues-paying membership who enjoy history in general, and the city’s history in particular. Founded in 1906, The Society preserves and presents items, articles, ephemera, family records, and historical publications, allowing the public access to most of these items.

The Historical Society is located at the old brick schoolhouse, formerly Field School, (behind City Hall) at 17 School Street, Leominster, Massachusetts. We welcome community use of the Society’s resources for research, and all are welcome to view exhibits at the Society Museum. Please call ahead for school groups. Our public hours are few, but if you call for an appointment, we’ll try to accommodate you.
